Filed under: Project 5a: Recyled Wine Bottles (Iteration 1)

1.  Get a empty bottle and a bottle cutter, adjust the bottle cutter to the desired length.

2. Using the Ephren’s Bottle Cutter, etch a line along the circumference of a empty wine bottle.

3. With a candle, heat the scored line on the glass.  Keep the tip of the flame 1/8 inch above the glass, rotate slowly and evenly 4 times.

4. Rub the heated score line with ice.  You should hear the bottle crack .

5. The bottle should break into two by itself. It’s pretty simple. You should sand away sharp edges.
